Mother Teresa to be beatified as miracle approved

THE Pope yesterday approved a miracle attributed to Mother Teresa's intercession, paving the way for the nun who dedicated her life to the poor to be beatified and possibly made a saint.

A Vatican statement said Mother Teresa's work in the last century had made her a "world emblem of Christian charity".

In the autumn, a Vatican committee approved a reported miracle attributed to the intercession of the Roman Catholic nun, a finding that was formally seconded by John Paul yesterday in a solemn ceremony in the Apostolic Palace.
