Parents ‘devastated’ over death of twin toddlers

Two-year-olds William and Betsy Woodbridge died at their home in Winkfield, Berkshire, on Monday.

Yesterday heart-broken parents Paul and Louise Woodbridge told how they were “simply devastated” by the loss of their “beautiful children”.

The twins had been having a nap in their bedroom while their Mrs Woodbridge, 33, was downstairs with relatives, including her mother Frances, when tragedy struck some time after 2pm.

It is understood Mrs Woodbridge heard a thump and a member of the family went upstairs and discovered what had happened.

The twins were taken to Wexham Park Hospital by ambulance in Slough but were pronounced dead.

Mr and Mrs Woodbridge said in a statement: “Words cannot begin to express the great loss of our two beautiful children, who meant the world to us and our entire family.

“They were both such happy and loved children. We are simply devastated.”

It had been reported that the children had been climbing on the drawers, which fell on top of them, but family friend Ruth Roll said exactly how the furniture toppled was still unclear.
