Crisis in hotel industry looms as bookings fall

HOTEL bosses are demanding VAT cuts and rates exemptions to offset the fall in bookings for the summer.

With bookings reduced to a trickle, the Irish Hotels Federation is predicting a crisis this year for hotels and bed and breakfast trade across the country.

Irish Hotels Federation president Jim Murphy conceded: "There's no quick-fix solution to the problems faced by the industry."
