Boy kills sister, wounds brother in shooting

A FOUR-YEAR-OLD boy who found a loaded gun in the house shot and killed his five-year-old sister and seriously wounded his seven-year-old brother, Maryland police said.

The children were home alone at the time, police spokeswoman Diane Richardson said yesterday.

“It’s a terrible situation that probably could have been avoided,” said Richardson.

Neighbours called police and the girl was taken to a hospital, where she died. Her seven-year-old brother was in critical condition at another hospital.

The parents could be charged for leaving small children unattended and for leaving a gun where the children could find it.
