Stones are still rolling in it
Mick Jagger and his band made £45 million (€67m) last year, largely thanks to their hugely successful Forty Licks tour. A staggering three million fans flocked to see them as they performed all over the world.
The group topped the annual music rich list compiled by Rolling Stone magazine.
Bruce Springsteen was second in the list, amassing a £43m (€64m) fortune last year. His fans spend more on merchandising nearly £11 (€16) each than those of any other performer.
Third were old-timers The Eagles, who made their money from touring and a best-selling greatest hits package.
Other veterans to make the top 10 include Metallica, Simon and Garfunkel and Cher, who is currently nearing the end of her Farewell Tour.
Robbie Williams was joint 12th. He made £17.4m (€26m) from record sales and tour dates, including the record-breaking Knebworth gigs.
The Beatles made £13.7m (€20m) in 2003, 33 years after they split, thanks to sales of the Anthology DVD.
Coldplay are just outside the top 20, making £12.7m (€19m) last year.
