Bonding hormones lower in orphans, research shows

CHILDREN raised in orphanages are left with a biological imprint of neglect, according to a new study yesterday.

Researchers found a group of four-year-old orphans were deficient in two hormones that play key roles in emotional bonding.

The finding could explain some telltale behaviours associated with early neglect.
