Ryanair begins terminal challenge

RYANAIR has begun a High Court challenge to have the Government’s decision, to have ownership of the proposed second terminal for Dublin Airport transferred to the Dublin Airport Authority (DAA), declared illegal.

Ryanair begins terminal challenge

The airline alleges the Government breached European Union competition regulations when it decided that the DAA would own the proposed second terminal at the airport without putting the contract out to tender.

Ryanair claims the Governments must comply with the same rules as local authorities and semi-state companies and put all contracts out to open tender. The airline said it was challenging the decision on competition and public procurement grounds under Article 82 and Article 86 of the European Treaty.
