Armed police raid house in British murder probe

ARMED police smashed their way into a house in England yesterday as officers stepped up their search for a former bin man linked to four brutal murders.

Forces across Britain are looking for 34-year-old Mark Hobson, who detectives want to question in connection with the murders of twin sisters and an elderly couple in North Yorkshire at the weekend.

Earlier, residents at Abbot’s Road in Selby were shocked when armed officers hunting for Hobson arrived in the early hours shouting, “This is the police, come out with your hands behind your head.”

Detective Superintendent Javad Ali said detectives had received reports that Hobson had been sighted there. But the divorced father of three was not there and remains at large

Meanwhile, two women were arrested in connection with the murder inquiries. They were named locally as Valerie Kemp and her daughter Donna.

The massive investigation began after the bodies of Hobson’s 27-year-old girlfriend Claire Sanderson and her twin sister, Diane, were found at their flat in the village of Camblesforth, near Selby, on Sunday morning.

A few hours later, pensioners James and Joan Britton were found murdered at their house near Strensall, 25 miles away.

Evidence recovered from the scene suggested the murders were linked.
