Wilson Waweru scored twice and Cian Coleman got one as Cobh Ramblers came from behind to defeat Finn Harps 3-1 at St. Colman’s Park.
The visitors led at the break through a breakaway strike from Odhran McHugh and Kevin McHugh’s side were undone in a 15-minute spell by the hosts.
The result has settled Cobh after a defeat last time out against play-off rivals Longford Town, as they tightened their grip on fourth spot with their cause helped by Wexford’s draw with Athlone Town.
Fran Rockett’s side were out for a response and their cause was complicated by a neat counter attack and awkward finish from McHugh in the 18th minute.
The Ramblers controlled possession for the rest of the half and despite efforts from Shane T. Griffin and Rhys Brennan, they went into the break trailing.
Their luck turned from a corner taken short that Shane T. Griffin was able to send in for Coleman, who headed in the equaliser in the 66th minute.
90 seconds later and it was 2-1 with the scorer turning creator by knocking on a Shane T. Griffin cross for Wilson, with the striker finishing from right in front of the posts.
A handful of opportunities fell to the forward for a second, and he eventually got in from a quick free-kick sent in by Shane T. Griffin in the 81st minute.
Meanwhile, a 34th-minute Cian Brosnan goal ensured Kerry took all the points at UCD.
Elsewhere, Ben McCormack grabbed a double as Bray ran out 5-2 winners over Lonford, while Athlone and Wexford were forced to make do with a point apiece.
