Lucy Quinn has been elevated from unused sub to starter in the Ireland women’s team for Saturday night's second World Cup qualifier in Utrecht (7.45pm).

The enforced withdrawal of centurion Denise O’Sullivan through injury meant one change from the side beaten 2-1 by France.

Carla Ward has kept the alterations to a minimum, retaining the rest of them which led the French for an hour on Tuesday at Tallaght.

Quinn of Birmingham City will slot into midfield alongside Cork native Megan Connolly, who is celebrating her 29th birthday.

Tonight’s fixture – expected to attract around 13,000 fans to Stadion Galgenwaard – is the first competitive home game of the Arjan Veurink reign.

He departed his role as assistant boss of back-to-back Euro champions England in April.

After four friendlies, his first competitive outing was Tuesday’s visit to Gdansk, where the Dutch were held to a 2-2 draw.

France host Poland in the other League A2 group game being held in Dijon. That kicks off at 8.10pm.
