FAI would earn €9m for World Cup qualification as FIFA reveal huge €620m prize-pot

That total – which includes €42.6m for the winner of the five-week extravaganza – represents a doubling of the envelope on the figure available four years ago at Qatar 2022.

The FAI will receive a guaranteed minimum of €9m in prize-money for World Cup qualification, the same largesse grossed for their last major tournament in 2016.

Fifa’s council have come under fire for the pricing structure of tickets at next summer’s finals in North America but were able to dish out favourable news in the form of a €620m prize-pot.
