Thomas Frank is confident Tottenham’s home form will “click” a year on from his record-breaking run at Brentford.
It was 12 months ago that Frank’s Brentford topped the Premier League standings for goals and points at home after a 4-1 win over Leicester on November 30.
That result made it six wins in seven home fixtures for the west London club, which is in stark contrast to Spurs’ struggles during 2025 where they have only won three times in the division and just once in six games since Frank’s June appointment.
Ahead of Saturday’s visit of Fulham, Frank reflected: “We scored the most goals, didn’t we, at home? Yeah, I think we had eight games with four or more goals last season.
“A front four with Yoane Wissa, Bryan Mbeumo, Kevin Schade and Mikkel Damsgaard. The front three scored 50 goals between them and Dams was unplayable at times, so they clicked and that’s what we are working very hard to find now, to make it click.
“I’m not in doubt that will come. I hope we see signs of it on Saturday, how we want to do things. And then, as you say, the wins, the performance, everything, you know, bit by bit, it will be more and more.”
Xavi Simons has been a central figure in Tottenham’s last two home fixtures, but not for the right reasons.
He was surprisingly on the bench for the 1-0 loss at Chelsea before being called upon early due to Lucas Bergvall suffering concussion and yet was substituted off.
Frank was subsequently booed during the 2-2 draw with Manchester United for his choice to withdraw the Netherlands international when Spurs were behind and the £52million playmaker has only been on the bench for this week’s defeats at Arsenal and Paris St Germain.
“Xavi has been fine,” Frank insisted.
“As we’ve seen with other players coming into the Premier League for the first time from other leagues, it’s not straightforward in any way.
“It’s a completely natural part of the development or adjustment to the league. Different games, different abilities, so yeah.”
Frank has shuffled his pack more than most this season as he attempts to juggle domestic and European commitments.
Ahead of further anticipated changes for the visit of Fulham, with Kevin Danso set to be recalled for the suspended Cristian Romero along with Destiny Udogie and Xavi, the 52-year-old insisted some of his tinkering is to help the team further down the line.
“We want to compete in the Premier League and the Champions League, that’s the big aim,” Frank said.
“You change players to keep a little bit of energy and freshness – Manchester City changed 10 players in midweek, Chelsea five.
“You need to do that, not just for the next game but also to be fresh in February, March and April, when everything is going to be decided, but also you need to perform now.”
