Athlone Town’s women face a mammoth task to extend their European journey after crashing to a 3-0 defeat at Glasgow City.
The Irish champions were rocked by the resignation of manager Colin Fortune in Sunday and were soundly beaten in the first match of John Sullivan’s caretaker spell.
Kelly Brady wasted a couple of chances for the Midlanders but Glasgow were lethal on the counter attack, soaring ahead through Amy Louise Anderson.
Linda Motlhalo and Lisa Forrest added two more in the second half to leave Town with an uphill struggle in next Wednesday’s Europa League home second leg.
