Ruesha Littlejohn and London City Lionesses have "mutually agreed to part ways", the club have announced.

The Republic of Ireland international joined the English Women's Championship side in August 2023 on a multi-year deal following a spell at Aston Villa.

It had been reported that LittleJohn’s contract with the Lionesses was set to be terminated with the club looking to bring in Arsenal's Freya Godfrey in her place.

And on Tuesday afternoon, London City posted a statementon social media confirming they had parted ways with the midfielder, who turns 35 in July.

"London City Lionesses and Ruesha Littlejohn have mutually agreed to part ways.

"This decision allows Ruesha to focus on the next chapter of her playing career and explore new opportunities within the game.

"The club recognises Ruesha’s contributions during her time with the team and wishes her success moving forward."

A couple of Littlejohn's Irish teammates have come out in support of her with Denise O'Sullivan posting "hope ya find somewhere that values you" on Instagram while Grace Moloney also used the platform to write: "Ooh Ruesh. You deserve so much better."
