THE Keowns had the Sunday dinner in the evening. Martin can picture his mam Angela peeling the spuds in their terraced house in Oxford. The radio is unbearably crackly, but it’s a crystal clear vision of home for his mother. Galway are hurling and she is yahooing every time one of the Connollys are on the ball, which is often, with John, Joe, and Michael in that great team.

“My mum was very proud of the fact she went to school with one of them. I've met all of those guys in Galway over the years.”
