FAI Cup friendly derby shines light on progress in women's game

Saturday's first round of Women's FAI Cup action throws up a clash between Cork City and Douglas Hall, with many former City players in their ranks.

There will be Cork City fans on the Turner’s Cross pitch as well as in the stands on Saturday afternoon. That's part of the appeal for Douglas Hall captain Maggie Duncliffe in a special Women's FAI Cup first-round tie.

Duncliffe is one of several former City players now with the CWSSL club. Nathalie O’Brien, Stacey Paul O’Regan, Rebecca Walsh, Amy McCarthy and Ciara Desmond are others.
