The 24 teams heading to Germany for Euro 2024

- Switzerland’s best Euros performance came in 2020, when they stunned France on penalties in the round of 16 before a quarter-final exit at the hands of Spain, also on spot kicks. Defeated Ireland 1-0 in Dublin on Tuesday night thanks to a Xherdan Shaqiri free-kick.
- Three-time winners and three-time runners-up, Germany are hosting their first Euros since reunification (West Germany staged the finals in 1988).
- Steve Clarke’s Scotland will be looking to make it out of the group stage at the Euros for the first time this summer.
– Liverpool midfielder Dominik Szoboszlai will captain a Hungary side that have now made it to their third tournament in a row after a 2-2 draw in Bulgaria edged them over the line.

- Captain Luka Modric could feature in his ninth major international tournament and will aim to guide his side past the round of 16, the point where they have been eliminated in their last two appearances.
– Winners in 2020, Italy snuck into this summer’s tournament after holding on for a goalless draw against Ukraine, when defeat would have seen them drop to third in their qualifying group.
- Albania booked a place at their second-ever Euro finals (previous qualification was in 2016) with a nervy 1-1 draw in Moldova in their penultimate qualifier.
- Luis de la Fuente's Spain side will be hoping for a record-breaking fourth Euro win in Germany; they are currently level with the hosts on three triumphs.

- Kasper Hjulmand's experienced Denmark squad reached the last four at Euro 2020, their best showing at any finals since they famously won the competition in 1992.
- Gareth Southgate and his England stars will be hoping to go one better than last time, when the Three Lions lost the Euro 2020 final to Italy on penalties at Wembley.
- Slovenia were Beaten only twice across their ten qualifying fixtures, Matjaž Kek's team finished off with a 2-1 win against their rivals for the runners-up spot, Kazakhstan, to reach a major international tournament for only the fourth time.
– Whilst boasting a plethora of talented players over the last number of years, Serbia will arrive in Germany for their first Euros since the 2000 edition.

- Two-time winners (1984 and 2000) France have only missed one Euro final tournament after failing to reach the 1988 deciders. Michel Platini scored all his Euro goals in the 1984 finals with is haul of nine still the tournament record for a single edition.
– Won the 1988 Uefa European Championship beating the Soviet Union 2-0 in the final which is still their only major international title to date. They booked their place in this year's tournament defeating the Republic of Ireland at home.
- Most successful tournament was in Euro 2020 when they reached the last 16. Austria did not qualify for the first 12 Euro final tournaments, but this will be their third successive finals having missed just one of the last five tournaments.
– They did it the hard way, or the nervy way at least, to reach their fourth finals tournament. A penalty shoot-out victory away to Wales on Tuesday night, where former Arsenal goalkeeper Wojciech Szczęsny proved to be the hero, will ensure 35-year-old Robert Lewandowski will get to represent his country at least once more at a major tournament before retiring. The quarter-finals in 2016 is the furthest they have gone in the competition, they would take a gladly take a similar run this time around.

- Anghel Iordanescu was in charge at Euro 1996 and 2016. His son Edward will lead Romania for their 2024 Euro campaign.
– Slovakia have not won the Uefa European Championship as an independent nation but a number of the Slovak players featured in Czechoslavakia’s 1976 Euro success. 2016 was the first Euro final tournament as an independent nation.
- Romelu Lukaku will go into the 2024 Euros as Belgium’s all-time Euros top scorer and one of their top appearance-makers. Yet to win the tournament, Belgium reached the quarter-finals of the last two tournaments (2016, 2020).
– Ukraine's qualification for Euro 2024 has cheered a country suffering hardship in its conflict with Russia and for a few weeks in June and July the tournament will provide a welcome distraction from the harsh reality of war. The team came from behind to defeat Iceland 2-1 in their playoff final in neutral Poland on Tuesday and book a fourth successive appearance in the continental finals. In 2020 they overcame Sweden 2-1 to reach the quarter-finals where they lost to England.

- Most memorable game at the tournament was their thrilling encounter against Germany in the 2008 semi-finals where they lost 3-2.
- Czechia will be appearing at the 2024 Euros for the first time under their current name. This is their eighth successive appearance at the finals as they eased past 10-man Moldova on Matchday 10.
– Their first major international tournament success was when they won the 2016 Euros. Portugal are in their eighth successive finals tournament and have never been eliminated at the group stages. Cristiano Ronaldo will fancy himself to fire his country to more glory.
– This is an historic first ever major tournament for Georgia as an independent nation. They achieved it thanks to a 4-2 shootout win over Greece after a tense playoff final ended 0-0 following extra time on Tuesday. Nika Kvekveskiri scored decisive spot-kick to write his name into the history books which will give Napoli's Khvicha Kvaratskhelia the opportunity to showcase his quality on a huge stage.
