Republic of Ireland striker Evan Ferguson has put pen-to-paper on a new contract with Premier League outfit Brighton and Hove Albion.

The deal - which runs up until June 2029 - may not secure the in-demand 19-year-old's services for the long term, but will certainly drive up his already hefty asking price.

Ferguson's rapid rise since scoring his first Premier League goal against Arsenal in December of 2022 has seen him grow into one of Europe's hottest prospects.

He made his senior Republic of Ireland debut in March, netting in a 3-2 win over Latvia.

A St Kevin's Boys graduate, Ferguson joined Brighton from League of Ireland outfit Bohemians in January 2021, making his senior debut for the club in a Carabao Cup fixture against Cardiff City later that year.

The Meath native has gone on to score 15 senior goals for the club, including a first English top-flight hat-trick in the September clash with Newcastle.

On the extended deal, Brighton head coach Roberto De Zerbi said: “Evan deserves this new contract and he has a very big future ahead of him.”

Club technical director David Weir added: “Evan is a brilliant young talent and we are delighted for him.

“He’s shown his ability at club and international level, after breaking into the team at the start of the year, and we are looking forward to working with him and watching his continued progress.”

Ferguson's new extension at the club is his third in just over 12 months.
