British government MP will miss vote to officiate Champions League match

British Prime minister Theresa May has defended a Conservative MP who will miss a Commons vote on welfare policy to officiate at a Champions League match.

She said that said Douglas Ross's constituents would be "very pleased" to have a Conservative MP, adding the party was doing more for Scottish interests at Westminster "than the Scottish nationalists have ever done".
