Blackpool chairman Karl Oyston will serve a six-week ban from all football activity for the text-message exchange in which he branded one supporter “a retard”, the Football Association has announced.

The FA has levied sanctions on Oyston for the ’abusive and insulting text messages’ he sent Seasiders fan Stephen Smith in November and which emerged in the public domain one month later.
