The Republic of Ireland Women's U17 side started their UEFA Championships Elite Qualifying Round with a bang last night.

They beat England 2-0 at Turner's Cross in Cork, thanks to first half goals from Eleanor Ryan-Doyle and Saoirse Noonan.

Noonan’s goal in particular was a beauty.

The English goalkeeper couldn’t get near the ball when Noonan lobbed the ball into the back of the net from the edge of the box.

Lovely stuff.

The 15-year-old defender and her team-mates are back in action against Netherlands on Saturday before playing Hungary on Tuesday, with both games also at the Cork venue.
