Bournemouth midfielder named in O'Neill's squad for Poland clash

Martin O'Neill has named Bournemouth midfielder Harry Arter in the Republic of Ireland provisional squad for the Euro 2016 Group D Qualifier against Poland.

The 25-year-old was a regular for the Ireland U17 and U19 teams, but this is his first call-up for the senior squad.

Arter has scored six times for Bournemouth in their battle for promotion to the Premier League this season and the fact he is a permanent fixture in the Cherries' midfield has earned him a chance at international level.

Republic of Ireland manager Martin O’Neill said: "We have reached a very important time in our qualifying campaign.

"I am looking forward to assembling the squad for the first time this year in preparation for this game."

The qualifier takes place in the Aviva on Sunday, March 29 at 19.45pm, and the squad will be shortened a week before the game.
