Liverpool v Chelsea Saturday November 8 12.45pm

Liverpool: Rodgers set to recall stars

Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard, fellow midfielder Jordan Henderson and forward Raheem Sterling are all expected to be recalled for the visit of league leaders Chelsea.

The trio were among seven players left out of the midweek defeat at Real Madrid but not all are guaranteed to return.

Good performances by the likes of centre-back Kolo Toure and forward Fabio Borini could see them retain their places.

Provisional squad: Mignolet, Johnson, Skrtel, Toure, Moreno, Gerrard, Henderson, Allen, Coutinho, Sterling, Borini, Balotelli, Jones, Manquillo, Lovren, Can, Markovic, Lucas, Lallana, Lambert.

Chelsea: Costa fit

Striker Diego Costa will start for Premier League leaders Chelsea at Liverpool despite being left out of the Spain squad to recover from his persistent hamstring trouble.

Striker Loic Remy (groin) and midfielder John Obi Mikel (knee) are available following recent injuries, with Jose Mourinho having a fully-fit squad to choose from.

Full-back Cesar Azpilicueta is available again after completing his three-match domestic suspension following his dismissal against Crystal Palace.

Provisional squad: Courtois, Cech, Ivanovic, Luis, Fabregas, Zouma, Ake, Ramires, Oscar, Hazard, Drogba, Mikel, Schurrle, Salah, Costa, Remy, Matic, Willian, Cahill, Terry, Azpilicueta, Christensen, Baker, Schwarzer.

Southampton v Leicester Saturday November 8 3pm

Southampton: No new worries for Koeman

Southampton manager Ronald Koeman has no fresh injury concerns as he prepares his side for the visit of Leicester on Saturday.

Saints sit second in the Barclays Premier League table following a fine run of form, aided by the fact Koeman has been able to select from the majority of his squad for much of the season.

Only James Ward-Prowse (foot) and long-term absentee Jay Rodriguez (knee) are missing with Sadio Mane pushing for a start having come off the bench late on in the win at Hull last weekend.

Provisional squad: Forster, K Davis, Cropper, Clyne, Fonte, Gardos, Alderweireld, Bertrand, Targett, Schneiderlin, S Davis, Wanyama, Reed, Cork, Tadic, Yoshida, Mane, Long, Mayuka, Pelle, Gallagher.

Leicester: Ulloa returns for Foxes

Leonardo Ulloa is set to return for Leicester after being rested following a groin injury last week.

The striker was on the bench for the 1-0 home defeat to West Brom but is primed to return at Southampton.

Matt Upson (foot) is still out but Foxes boss Nigel Pearson is hopeful the defender, who is yet to play since joining in the summer, could return before Christmas.

Provisional squad: Schmeichel, Smith, Morgan, Moore, De Laet, Konchesky, Wasilewski, Drinkwater, Hammond, James, King, Cambiasso, Albrighton, Mahrez, Knockaert, Vardy, Ulloa, Nugent, Schlupp, Wood, Powell.

Burnley v Hull Saturday November 8 3pm

Burnley: Steven Reid back

Steven Reid is available for Burnley’s match at home to Hull on Saturday after a groin problem.

Midfielder Matt Taylor is back in initial training after an Achilles operation but is not ready to return to playing.

Striker Sam Vokes is still working his way back from a serious knee injury.

Provisional squad: Heaton, Trippier, Lafferty, Ward, Duff, Shackell, Mee, Reid, Wallace, Kightly, Cisak, Sordell, Marney, Jutkiewicz, Boyd, Gilks, Keane, Long, Barnes, Arfield, Ings, Chalobah, Jones.

Hull: No returning faces

Hull are not expecting any of their injured players back for the trip to Burnley on Saturday.

That means third choice goalkeeper Eldin Jakupovic will continue in place of Allan McGregor and Steve Harper, while Michael Dawson (ankle), Alex Bruce (hamstring), Nikica Jelavic and Robert Snodgrass (both knee) all sit out.

Gaston Ramirez is available again after being ineligible to face parent club Southampton last week.

Team (provisional): Jakupovic, Watson, Davies, Rosenior, Robertson, Chester, Bruce, McShane, Elmohamady, Meyler, Diame, Huddlestone, Livermore, Brady, Aluko, Quinn, Ramirez, Hernandez, Ben Arfa, Aluko.

Man United v Crystal Palace Saturday November 8 3pm

Man United: Defensive worries for United

Manchester United have a shortage of centre-backs for Saturday’s home game against Crystal Palace.

Marcos Rojo (shoulder), Phil Jones (shin), Chris Smalling (suspension) and Jonny Evans (ankle) are all unavailable so midfielder Michael Carrick looks set to start in defence alongside either Tyler Blackett or Paddy McNair.

Right-back Rafael (hamstring) is a major doubt for the match at Old Trafford and striker Radamel Falcao (leg) is out.

Provisional squad: De Gea, Lindegaard, Amos, Rafael, Vermijl, Shaw, Blackett, Thorpe, McNair, Pereira, Blind, Fletcher, Valencia, Lingard, Fellaini, Anderson, Carrick, Young, Herrera, Mata, Januzaj, Di Maria, Rooney, Van Persie, W Keane.

Palace: Jedinak banned for United trip

Captain Mile Jedinak will miss Crystal Palace’s trip to Manchester United on Saturday having been sent off in Monday night’s loss to Sunderland.

The Australian international has played in every Palace game since they won promotion back into the Barclays Premier League last year but will sit out the game at Old Trafford as he serves a one-match ban.

Wilfried Zaha is also unavailable to Eagles’ boss Neil Warnock as he is on loan from United – but Damien Delaney is likely to return to the squad after illness kept him out of the Sunderland game.

Provisional squad: Speroni, Hennessey, Mariappa, Kelly, Fryers, Dann, Delaney, Ward, Hangeland, Bannan, Ledley, McArthur, Bolasie, Thomas, Puncheon, Gayle, Guediora, Campbell, Johnson, Doyle, Chamakh.

West Ham v Aston Villa Saturday November 8 3pm

West Ham: Sakho boost for Hammers

West Ham striker Diafra Sakho is expected to return from a shoulder injury for Saturday’s Barclays Premier League match against Aston Villa at Upton Park.

England forward Andy Carroll could be in the Irons’ squad for the first time this season following an ankle problem after playing in a midweek friendly.

Defender Winston Reid will be assessed after suffering a dead leg during the draw at Stoke, but Guy Demel (thigh) remains sidelined.

Provisional squad: Adrian, Cresswell, Reid, Collins, Jenkinson, Song, Noble, Kouyate, Downing, Valencia, Sakho, Jaaskelainen, Zarate, O’Brien, Jarvis, Amalfitano, Cole, Nolan, Tomkins, Carroll.

Aston Villa: Benteke banned for Villa

Christian Benteke starts a three-match ban after his sending off in Aston Villa’s 2-1 defeat to Tottenham on Sunday.

Gabby Agbonlahor, who was dropped for the game, is likely to come straight back into the team as the Belgian’s replacement at Upton Park.

Philippe Senderos could also return after he made his comeback to training on Thursday following a thigh injury but Fabian Delph (shoulder) and Alan Hutton (ankle) remain out.

Provisional squad: Guzan, Given, Lowton, Baker, Clark, Okore, Senderos, Vlaar, Cissokho, Richardson, Cole, Sanchez, Westwood, Grealish, Bacuna, Cleverley, N’Zogbia, Weimann, Agbonlahor, Bent.

QPR v Man City Saturday November 8 5.30pm

QPR: Barton and Onuoha may return

QPR’s Joey Barton and Nedum Onuoha could both return to face their former club when Rangers host Manchester City in the Barclays Premier League on Saturday.

Barton and Onuoha are available again to Harry Redknapp as is midfielder Jordon Mutch. All three missed last weekend’s 2-1 defeat at Chelsea with hamstring problems.

Rio Ferdinand is serving a three-match ban for comments made on Twitter while Alejandro Faurlin is a long-term absentee with a cruciate ligament injury.

Provisional squad: Green, McCarthy, Traore, Onuoha, Dunne, Caulker, Yun, Hill, Isla, Henry, Sandro, Barton, Fer, Mutch, Taarabt, Zamora, Vargas, Austin, Phillips, Kranjcar, Murphy, Hoilett.

Man City: City must cope without their leader

Manchester City captain Vincent Kompany has been ruled out of the champions’ Barclays Premier League trip to QPR on Saturday with a calf injury.

The defender took a blow to the leg in the midweek Champions League loss to CSKA Moscow. The problem is not thought serious but it could put Kompany’s participation in Belgium’s upcoming Euro 2016 qualifier with Wales in doubt.

Former England midfielder Frank Lampard has recovered from a thigh injury but playmaker David Silva (knee) and left-back Aleksandar Kolarov (calf) are out.

Provisional squad: Hart, Caballero, Zabaleta, Sagna, Clichy, Demichelis, Mangala, Boyata, Nasri, Navas, Milner, Toure, Lampard, Fernando, Fernandinho, Aguero, Jovetic, Dzeko.

Sunderland v Everton Sunday November 9 1.30pm

Sunderland: Rodwell ready for return

Jack Rodwell is fit and could return for Sunderland against former club Everton in the Barclays Premier League on Sunday.

The midfielder has recovered from a knock and is expected to be back in the starting line-up, with Lee Cattermole suspended.

Left-back Patrick van Aanholt is ruled out with dislocated shoulder sustained in the win at Crystal Palace on Monday. Wes Brown, who replaced him during the Selhurst Park match, is likely to step in.

Provisional squad: Pantilimon, Mannone, Reveillere, Brown, O’Shea, Vergini, Roberge, Rodwell, Bridcutt, Gomez, Larsson, Johnson, Buckley, Mavrias, Fletcher, Wickham, Altidore, Graham.

Everton: Late fitness tests for duo

Everton midfielder Gareth Barry and full-back Seamus Coleman will undergo fitness tests ahead of Sunday’s Barclays Premier League clash with Sunderland at the Stadium of Light.

Barry has an ankle problem which he suffered in Thursday’s 3-0 Europa League win over Lille, while Coleman was absent from the squad for that match after suffering a cut to his Achilles tendon in last Saturday’s 0-0 league draw with Swansea.

Kevin Mirallas (hamstring), Bryan Oviedo, Arouna Kone (both match fitness), Antolin Alcaraz (shoulder) and John Stones (ankle) remain unavailable for first-team selection.

Provisional squad: Howard, Robles, Coleman, Baines, Hibbert, Browning, Jagielka, Distin, Gibson, McCarthy, Barry, Besic, Barkley, Osman, Pienaar, Atsu, McGeady, Lukaku, Eto’o, Naismith.

Spurs v Stoke Sunday November 9 1.30pm

Spurs: Duo doubt for Stoke clash

Aaron Lennon and Emmanuel Adebayor are to be assessed before Tottenham’s return to Barclays Premier League action against Stoke.

The pair were rested for the midweek Europa League trip to Asteras Tripoli due to slight hamstring complaints.

Kyle Walker continues to miss out following abdominal surgery, while Nabil Bentaleb is absent due to an ankle complaint.

Provisional squad: Lloris, Vorm, Friedel, Naughton, Dier, Rose, Davies, Kaboul, Chiriches, Fazio, Vertonghen, Dembele, Capoue, Stambouli, Mason, Paulinho, Lamela, Lennon, Chadli, Townsend, Eriksen, Kane, Soldado, Adebayor. ends

Stoke: Trio return

Stoke have Peter Crouch, Phil Bardsley and Marc Muniesa back available for Sunday’s Barclays Premier League away clash with Tottenham, while Marko Arnautovic remains in line to feature despite breaking his hand.

Ex-Spurs man Crouch and Bardsley sat out the 2-2 home draw with West Ham last Saturday due to suspensions, while Muniesa was nursing an ankle problem.

Although Arnautovic is not expected to be kept out by the injury he suffered in training earlier this week, the same cannot be said of Dionatan Teixeira, who broke his foot on the same day and has joined Robert Huth (calf), Glenn Whelan (broken leg) and and Peter Odemwingie (knee) on the sidelines.

Provisional squad: Begovic, Sorensen, Wilson, Shawcross, Pieters, Cameron, Muniesa, Bardsley, Nzonzi, Adam, Sidwell, Ireland, Walters, Arnautovic, Bojan, Assaidi, Moses, Diouf, Crouch.

West Brom v Newcastle Sunday November 9 1.30pm

West Brom: Duo absent for Baggies

Jonas Olsson and Silvestre Varela are the only absentees for West Brom ahead of the visit of Newcastle.

Olsson is struggling with an Achilles problem while Porto loanee Varela is yet to regain fitness following a groin operation.

Record signing Brown Ideye may come back into the squad after being left out completely in last week’s 1-0 win at Leicester.

Provisional squad: Foster, Myhill, Pocognoli, Gamboa, Dawson, Lescott, McAuley, Davidson, Wisdom, Baird, Morrison, O’Neil, Gardner, Dorrans, Mulumbu, Brunt, Blanco, Sessegnon, Samaras, Ideye, Berahino, Anichebe.

Newcastle: Obertan out

Midfielder Gabriel Obertan will miss Newcastle’s Barclays Premier League trip to West Brom on Sunday after tearing a thigh muscle.

Manager Alan Pardew has confirmed that the Frenchman will be sidelined for a minimum of six to eight weeks after undergoing surgery, but was coy over suggestions he could be out for four or five months.

Winger Rolando Aarons is a doubt with an unspecified knock, while striker Papiss Cisse is working to shake off the effects of irritation from the screws used to repair his fractured kneecap. Midfield enforcer Cheick Tiote (calf) is likely to miss the next two weeks, joining central defender Mike Williamson (muscle strain) in the treatment room.

Provisional squad: Krul, Elliot, Janmaat, Dummett, Haidara, R. Taylor, Coloccini, S. Taylor, Anita, Abeid, Sissoko, Colback, Cabella, Gouffran, Ameobi, Riviere, Cisse, Perez, Armstrong.

Swansea v Arsenal Sunday November 9 4pm

Arsenal: Wilshere returns

Arsenal will welcome midfielder Jack Wilshere back from illness for Sunday’s Barclays Premier League trip to Swansea.

The England midfielder sat out the win against Burnley and Tuesday night’s Champions League draw with Anderlecht but manager Arsene Wenger has confirmed he is now fit to return.

Mikel Arteta has been ruled out after picking up a hamstring injury against the Belgians but Wenger insisted Theo Walcott is fit enough to start if he is selected following his first appearance since January as a substitute last weekend. Laurent Koscielny (Achilles), Mesut Ozil (knee), Olivier Giroud (foot), Yaya Sanogo (hamstring), Mathieu Debuchy (ankle), David Ospina (thigh) and Abou Diaby (calf) are all missing.

Provisional squad: Szczesny, Martinez, Gibbs, Monreal, Mertesacker, Chambers, Bellerin, Flamini, Coquelin, Ramsey, Cazorla, Wilshere, Rosicky, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Campbell, Podolski, Walcott, Sanchez, Welbeck.
