France denied victory by late goal in World Cup warm-up

France were held to a 1-1 draw with Paraguay after a dramatic finish to Les Bleus’ penultimate warm-up game for the World Cup.

France dominated the game, with forwards Olivier Giroud and Loic Remy linking up well, but were unable to find a breakthrough until the 82nd minute.

Antoine Griezmann’s curler looked to have secured a morale-boosting win but Paraguay defender Victor Caceres got the faintest of touches to a free-kick to score his first international goal and level the match.

Cameroon gained a creditable 2-2 draw with much-fancied Germany in Monchengladbach.

All the goals came in little over a quarter of an hour in the second half, starting when Samuel Eto’o gave the African side the lead.

Thomas Muller and Andre Schurrle swung the game Germany’s way but Eric Choupo-Moting – based in Germany, with Mainz – equalised.

Belgium served notice of their status as ones to watch at the tournament with a 2-0 win in Sweden.

Romelu Lukaku scored in the first half and his Chelsea club-mate Eden Hazard scored a 78th-minute clincher for the Red Devils.

The United States recorded a 2-1 win over Turkey in New Jersey.

Full-back Fabian Johnson opened the scoring with a beautifully-taken volley after a one-two with Michael Bradley.

And Clint Dempsey’s scrappy goal proved decisive for Jurgen Klinsmann’s side as Geoff Cameron’s handball allowed Selcuk Inan to cut the deficit with a late penalty.
