Schurrle boosted by Chelsea move
Andre Schurrle has been revitalised by his move to Chelsea, according to Germany coach Joachim Low.
The forward, who moved to Stamford Bridge from Bayer Leverkusen in the summer, scored a second-half hat-trick as Germany won 5-3 at Sweden in Tuesday night’s World Cup qualifier.
And Low admitted if the 22-year-old maintained his current level of performance he would be a definite in his World Cup squad.
Low said on www.dfb.de: “I told him recently that last year I wasn’t very happy with his development.
“But now, in some games with us and in England, he has shown again what he can do.
“He is dynamic, works back well and has a strong finish.
“His physical strength was also always an issue, but he has worked well. If he continues to play like that, the World Cup will certainly not pass him by.”
Germany will travel to Brazil next summer as one of the favourites for the tournament, but Low knows his side need to tighten up at the back.
“We will take the right conclusions out of this game,” he said.
“That we want to improved defensively with a view to the World Cup is clear. That is not just the case since this game. Also offensively, we have to show more urgency in the final third.”
