Reading chairman John Madejski has admitted there was never a chance his belief that Baroness Thatcher should be afforded a minute’s silence before this weekend’s matches would be put into practice.

The Royals are to hold a silence ahead of their Premier League encounter with Liverpool on Saturday but in honour of the 96 victims of the Hillsborough disaster.
