Tevez due in court on driving charges

Manchester City striker Carlos Tevez will today face charges that he drove while disqualified and without insurance.

He was bailed to appear at Macclesfield Magistrates’ Court following his arrest near his home in Alderley Edge, Cheshire, last month.

Argentinean Tevez, 29, was allegedly at the wheel of a white Porsche Cayenne when he was held by police on the afternoon of March 7.

He had received a six-month driving ban at Manchester Magistrates’ Court in January after he pleaded guilty to two counts of failing to furnish information relating to incidents in which his Hummer vehicle was clocked speeding.

Tevez did not attend that hearing but was represented by his solicitor who told the court the footballer failed to respond to documents because he did not recognise the word “constabulary”.
