Lennon eyes second bid for Doyle

Celtic boss Neil Lennon has revealed he is considering a second move for Wolves striker Kevin Doyle.

The Parkhead boss failed with an attempt to lure the Republic of Ireland international to Glasgow in January but says he is now mulling over a summer swoop for the 29-year-old.

The Hoops’ top-scorer Gary Hooper, who has 26 goals this season, is a target for English clubs and could be tempted south at the end of the current campaign - and Lennon believes Doyle could be the ideal replacement.

He is quoted in several newspapers this morning saying: “I’m a big admirer of Kevin obviously – I tried to take him in January.

“I think he’s a quality player. He is that all-round type of centre-forward that I really like. I can’t talk about another club’s player – I don’t want to disrespect Wolves. But we wanted him.”

And asked if he would make a second signing move, he the Celtic manager said: “I’ll think about it.”

Meanwhile, Lennon also confirmed that Anthony Stokes will be staying with the SPL champions, saying: “Anthony is a very important player for us.”
