He'll tweet when he wants: 'Obsessed' striker Sordell back online despite manager fears
Bolton Wanderers striker Marvin Sordell was back on Twitter today despite fears from his manager Dougie Freedman that the striker has become ‘obsessed’ with social media.
Wanderers boss Dougie Freedman has revealed that the amount of time Sordell, who netted in last weekend’s FA Cup game at home to Sunderland, spends on Twitter and Facebook “could be bordering on obsession”.
But the Olympian sent his first tweet since January 3 this afternoon, despite Freedman saying the club will confiscate his phone if needs must.
“We are trying to work with him by taking his phone off him,” the Wanderers boss said. “There have been small issues off the field with his tweeting, let’s not hide, we’re trying to deal with it.”
Had a very productive and progressive meeting about the upcoming 'Marvin Sordell Foundation' dinner event. Very excited!! #msf

The attacker, who joined the Championship club from Watford 12 months ago, was recently the recipient of racist abuse online after reporting an alleged incident at Millwall, where he was taunted while he warmed up on the sidelines in October.
Of course, he’s not the only one to have been at the centre of trouble online.
Rio Ferdinand is edging towards four million followers but has paid for it, having to stump up a £45,000 fine last August after calling former England teammate Ashley Cole a ‘choc ice’ because of evidence the Chelsea defender gave in the John Terry-Anton Ferdinand racism case.
How is RVP not in team of the season?? #fifa

He might not be as prolific or have as many followers as Ferdinand, but Cole is also known to court controversy online. Remember this deleted tweet below?

Yet no mention of footballers on Twitter would be complete without the ‘king’ Joey Barton. With the scouse rogue camped up in the south of France, it’s fair to say that we all see more of him online than on the pitch these days, but he’s still as amusing (or irritating depending on your viewpoint) as ever.
I wish I could press a button an vaporise some people on here. Absolute imbeciles...
