Fagan brings St Pat's from behind to secure victory

A brace of goals from Christy Fagan saw St. Patrick's Athletic come from behind to beat Bohemians 2-1 in a dramatic late, late show at Richmond Park.

Trailing to Danny Joyce's sublime 25 yards effort after just ten minutes, St. Pat's dominated but huffed and puffed despite a corner count of 12 to one.

It all fell into place from the 82nd minutes, though, when Fagan scooped home the rebound after substitute Dean Kelly's shot came back off the crossbar.

With Bohs looking set to hold out for a point, Fagan then pooped up in the box again four minutes into added time to get his head to a Sean O'Connor cross and steer it to the net. The win keeps St. Pat's second in the table, now four points behind leaders Sligo Rovers.

Paul Crowley scored for the second match running as Drogheda United beat Bray Wanderers 3-1 at Hunky Dorys Park to stay fourth in the table.

Declan O'Brien headed home a Ryan Brennan cross to give Drogheda a 21st minute lead.

But Bray hit back through Sean Houston on 33 minutes, the midfielder rising well to head in from a Dean Zambra free-kick.

Another header restored Drogheda's lead in the 64 minute as skipper Crowley nodded a Gavin Brennan cross past Bray keeper Darren Quigley.

Peter Hynes sealed Drogheda's win eight minutes later when scrambling the ball home following a needlessly conceded corner.

Derry City blew a 2-0 lead as they had to settle for a point in a four-goal thriller with Cork City at Turner's Cross.

Striker Rory Patterson seemed to have Derry in command with goals in the ninth and 22nd minutes.

But Derry had defender Stewart Greacen sent off for a second booking on the hour mark

That signalled Cork's revival with Vinny Sullivan pulling a goal back on 81 minutes before midfielder Shane Duggan salvaged the point with the home side's equaliser five minutes from time.

In the basement battle at the UCD Bowl, Dundalk earned a 1-1 draw to stay two points ahead of UCD.

Nathan Murphy headed home a Mark Griffin cross to give Dundalk the lead on 35 minutes.

But College hit back to level through Robbie Benson four minutes into the second half. Dundalk keeper Peter Cherrie could only bat away a shot from Mick Leahy and Benson was on hand to blast the rebound to the net off the underside of the bar.
