Smalling and Park surprise starters in Manchester derby
Park Ji-sung and Chris Smalling were handed their first Premier League starts since January as Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson made four changes for tonight’s crucial clash with Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium.
Looking to protect a three-point lead at the top of the table, Ryan Giggs and Phil Jones were also included as Danny Welbeck, Antonio Valencia, Rafael and Jonny Evans missed out.
City boss Roberto Mancini stuck with the side that defeated Wolves last weekend, meaning United old boy Carlos Tevez partnered Sergio Aguero in attack, with Mario Balotelli returning to the bench after completing his five-match ban.
