Uncertainty continues at Rangers

The futures of Rangers staff and players remains unclear following another day of talks with administrators Duff and Phelps.

Discussions have been taking place at the club‘s Murray Park training complex throughout the day, with PFA Scotland chief executive Fraser Wishart also in attendance.

The players‘ union chief also had formal discussions with the administrators and met with manager Ally McCoist and his players yesterday.

Some players began leaving the training ground for the day at lunchtime. McCoist and Wishart have also now left the Milngavie complex.

The departures of director of football Gordon Smith and chief operating officer Ali Russell were confirmed last Thursday but administrators have yet to make cuts on the playing side.

An announcement on job losses could yet be made later today, with reports suggesting staff have been presented with a number of options to mull over by the administrators in a bid to reduce costs.

Meanwhile, the Scottish Football Association said today they expect their independent inquiry into the activities of Rangers to be completed next week.

The inquiry – which was announced on February 17, three days after Rangers were forced into administration – is chaired by Lord Nimmo Smith and his report will go to a Special Board Meeting for consideration.
