Sligo shoot three past Bohs

Bohemians 0 Sligo Rovers 3

Eoin Doyle scored twice within eight minutes of coming off the bench to ensure his former club wouldn’t retain their title without kicking a ball last night.

The one-time Shamrock Rovers winger's double also brought his tally for the league season to 20, setting a new scoring record for the club.

While the win moves Sligo to within a point of the lead with a game more played, champions Shamrock Rovers will retain their title should they beat UCD at the UCD Bowl on Monday night.

Second best in the first half, Doyle's 61st minute introduction saw Sligo click into gear as they inflicted the biggest home defeat on Bohemians this season.

Within two minutes of his coming on, Sligo were ahead as Doyle clinically punished a mistake by defender Liam Burns to run on and calmly shoot home.

Six minutes later Doyle was there again on the back post to volley in Raffaele Cretaro’s deep cross.

Doyle was then also involved in the build up to the third in the 75th minute, feeding Aaron Greene on the right to cross for Matthew Blinkhorn to tap in from a couple of yards out.
