McCarthy back for Wigan

Midfielder James McCarthy returned to Wigan’s starting line-up for his first Barclays Premier League appearance in almost a month at Everton.

The 20-year-old came back from a knee injury in the midweek Carling Cup defeat to Crystal Palace and was one of three changes, alongside on-loan Chelsea defender Patrick van Aanholt making his league debut and Jordi Gomez.

Everton boss David Moyes named the same side which drew 2-2 with Aston Villa last week, meaning captain Phil Neville was left on the bench again.
