Bohs foil Sligo's table-topping ambitions

Sligo Rovers 1 Bohemians 2

Late goals from Killian Brennan, with a controversially awarded penalty, and Aidan Downes saw Bohemians come from behind to deprive in-form Sligo Rovers of regaining the leadership of the Premier Division table.

Bohs have proved Sligo's bogey side this season as they also won 2-1 at the Showgrounds earlier in the campaign before holding Paul Cook's side scoreless at Dalymount Park.

Central defender Gavin Peers gave Sligo an 11th minute lead when he found the net with a powerful header from Joseph Ndo's corner.

But Bohs were always in the game and they battled back, getting their reward with an equaliser from Brennan's penalty, awarded amid much confusion, on 75 minutes.

Downes then won it for Bohs six minutes later, cutting in from the right to draw Sligo keeper Brendan Clarke off his line and slip the ball to the net.

The win for Bohemians does their arch rivals and champions Shamrock Rovers a favour as Sligo now remain three points behind them with a game more played.

Derry City lead the table on goal difference from Shamrock Rovers, though the Dublin side also have a game in hand on them.
