Drogs duo missing for Louth derby

Drogheda United and Dundalk go head to head in tonight’s Louth derby at Hunky Dorys Park, kick-off 7.45pm.

Brian Gannon returns from suspension for United, while Jack Flynn and Colm O'Brien are still out injured.

Drogheda boss Mick Cooke said: “The lads did well against Bray and with all the work they put in they deserved that. The confidence is high, but we know Dundalk are going to be a different prospect.

“Ian Foster has produced a good side this year and they showed that when they got a point against Sligo last week.

“We will be quietly confident that we can get a result tonight.”

Eoghan Osbourne and Stephen McDonnell remain out injured for Dundalk who make the short trip south to Hunky Dorys Park.

Jason Byrne returned as a substitute last week against Sligo Rovers and may be in line to start.

However, Colin Hawkins remains sidelined with a hamstring strain.

Nathan Murphy is a doubtful as he is still recovering from a foot injury.

Dundalk defender Simon Madden said: "We know that if we keep a clean-sheet that we can nick a goal or two.

"Hopefully, we can do that and start turning these draws into wins. Before we go into the final quarter, we have to get as many points as we can in these two games coming up.

"It’s always enjoyable playing Drogheda. There’s always a good atmosphere. Hopefully, we can get three points from them."
