Drogs take on Sligo Rovers in search for first win
Drogheda United, once again, go in search of their first league win of the season when they take on Sligo Rovers at Hunky Dorys Park, kick-off 7.45pm.
Mark O'Brien returns to boost the Drogheda squad after serving a one-match suspension.
United manager Mick Cooke said: “Sligo had a great win on Tuesday but their form has been somewhat unpredictable so far this season with some expected wins but surprising defeats.
“They are a very impressive side on form and this will be a tough game for us. I am disappointed that we haven’t been able to get at least two points out of our last two games.”
The Bit o' Red are third in the table after an impressive 3-1 win over Bray Wanderers last Tuesday night, with Eoin Doyle hitting a hat-trick.
Rovers boss Paul Cook made six changes to his previous team for the clash with Bray and those players will be hoping they have done enough to keep their places.
Drogheda are without a win all season but Rovers defender Jason McGuinness has warned his team-mates they will need to put in another strong and consistent showing against Mick Cooke's men.
McGuinness said: “Drogheda will be another hard test on Friday night. We were happy with the way we play on Tuesday.
“After giving away the goal against Bray it was important we kept our heads up and reacted in the best way possible.
“We have to take that into the next game now. Our players are always capable of putting a lot of passes together and putting teams under pressure as we did in second half against Bray.”
