El Nino happy to be a Blue
Fernando Torres is in no doubt he made the right move to leave Liverpool for Chelsea, where life in the dressing room is not as serious as they chase his Champions League dream.
The 26-year-old is yet to score for the Blues since making a ÂŁ50m January switch.
However, the World Cup winner insists life is good at Stamford Bridge as Carlo Ancelottiâs men look to secure a place in the Champions League quarter-finals, with what is expected to be a routine victory over Copenhagen next week as they lead 2-0 from the first leg.
Speaking to Spanish newspaper Marca, Torres said: âWhat I didnât expect, when I got to Chelsea, was that the atmosphere would be so different from Liverpool. I expected it to be more distant given that this has a name for being a superstar team.
âThere are better personal relations and more jokes between the players than at Liverpool, where everything is a lot more serious. Here you donât have to demonstrate that you are a professional, itâs taken as the minimum.
âWinning trophies is all they care about here and, for me, the Champions League is the dream â no doubt.
âAfter having won the European Championship and the World Cup, itâs the maximum challenge left.
âObviously I want to win the Premier League too, itâs one of the great prizes in the game and I honestly think that we will win more than one while I am here.â
Torres also revealed uncertainty over Liverpoolâs ownership helped make up his mind to leave Anfield.
âI knew I was an idol for the Liverpool fans, but it wasnât the same any more. The institution was in chaos with the sale. There was all this talk of possible projects,â he said.
âIn many ways it reminded me of Atletico Madrid â a great history, many ideas but without money, it needed time. I donât have that.
âPeople arenât honest in the world of football. You canât say the truth or be clear with people. Itâs a business and nobody is anyoneâs friend.â
