Da Silva twins and Rooney in for United

Alex Ferguson has handed Ben Amos only his third Manchester United start as the Red Devils look to secure the Champions League point against Valencia at Old Trafford that will confirm them as Group C winners.

Although Ferguson had suggested yesterday he would name his strongest team, the absence of Edwin van der Sar, who does not even make the bench, proved those words incorrect. The veteran Dutchman is, though, expected to be available for next Monday’s encounter with Arsenal.

Twins Fabio and Rafael take the full-back berths as United look to become the first team to complete a six-game group phase without conceding a goal.

Manchester City’s David Silva is expected to be among the crowd to watch his former club, who are also sure of their place in the last 16.
