Win not enough for Bohs

Late goals from Aaron Greene and Jason Byrne gave Bohemians a last day win, but it wasn’t enough as Shamrock Rovers got the point they needed in Bray to lift the league title.

Bohs started well and were a goal up on 12 minutes when Paddy Madden finished superbly from the edge of the area after Dundalk failed to clear a Killian Brennan cross that was flicked on by Gareth McGlynn.

Dundalk levelled on 66 minutes with Faz Kuduzoic heading home Simon Madden’s cross.

Bohs gave their season one last push and got their reward on 90 minutes.

A quick throw out by keeper Barry Murphy saw Madden run to the end line to cross for Greene to shoot home.

Byrne then fired home a penalty two minutes into added time after he himself was taken down by Dundalk skipper Liam Burns.
