Sporting Fingal will secure their European qualification with victory over UCD at Morton Stadium tonight, kick-off 7.45pm.

Ger O’Brien is suspended for Fingal following his red card against Dundalk on Friday, while Colm James (knee) is ruled out and Shaun Maher will undergo a pre-match fitness test on a hamstring injury.

Sporting boss Liam Buckley said: “Final day fixtures can traditionally be unusual on the basis of depending on results elsewhere but that’s not the case for us.

“Defeating UCD is the priority and our recent form, including two away wins at Shamrock Rovers and Dundalk, provides me with optimism. UCD will come to Morton with nothing to lose but we’ve a job to complete and the focus is on getting three points.

“Qualifying for Europe is not what’s in our mind. Instead, it’s about continuing the recent string of results to finish as far up the table as possible.

“Once we take care of our performance, stay calm and concentrate on the task in hand, the rest will look after itself.”

Fingal are operating a ‘Pay What You Want’ promotion for this game, allowing all attending fans, home and away, to pay whatever price they want to watch the game.

UCD boss Martin Russell has a full squad to choose from for the trip to Santry.

Russell said: “We’re looking forward to going to the Morton Stadium. We like to test ourselves against good footballing sides and Liam Buckley’s team still have lots to play for so it should be an entertaining match.”
