Aston Villa and Republic of Ireland defender Richard Dunne will have a late fitness test on his back injury ahead of Sunday’s home Premier League clash with Everton.

Aston Villa striker Gabriel Agbonlahor is battling to be fit for the game after he suffered what was described as “tight calves” during the Europa League exit at the hands of Rapid Vienna last night and had to be substituted in the hope of avoiding a lengthy lay-off.

Fellow forward John Carew’s fitness will also be assessed after he missed the 3-2 reversal with an ongoing knee problem, but left-back Stephen Warnock and midfielder Stewart Downing will come back into the equation after being rested.

Team (from): Friedel, Cuellar, L Young, Beye, Dunne, Collins, Davies, Clark, Warnock, Ireland, Downing, Petrov, Reo-Coker, Ashley Young, Albrighton, Carew, Agbonlahor, Heskey, Delfouneso, Lichaj, Bannan.
