West Brom's Thomas out of Cup clash

Jerome Thomas is set to miss West Brom’s Carling Cup second-round tie away to Leyton Orient after twisting his ankle during the 1-0 win over Sunderland at the weekend.

The 27-year-old was replaced by Giles Barnes at half-time against the Black Cats and will be assessed this week by Albion boss Roberto Di Matteo.

Thomas joins Ishmael Miller (thigh strain) and defender Joe Mattock (twisted ankle) on the sidelines. The game will also come too soon for new signing Somen Tchoyi, who is lacking in match-fitness after completing his move from Austrian side Salzburg.

Provisional squad: Carson, Myhill, Jara, Zuiverloon, Reid, Olsson, Tamas, Ibanez, Meite, Shorey, Cech, Barnes, Tchoyi, Morrison, Dorrans, Mulumbu, Brunt, Odemwingie, Bednar, Cox, Moore, Wood.
