Sunderland defender John Mensah is expected to miss tomorrow’s Barclays Premier League trip to promoted West Brom.

The Ghana international suffered a hamstring injury late in last Saturday’s 2-2 draw with Birmingham and could be sidelined for several weeks.

New captain Lee Cattermole is suspended following his sending-off against the Blues, while Michael Turner completes his two-match ban, although midfielder Jack Colback returns from his disciplinary lay-off.

Republic of Ireland midfielder Andy Reid (hamstring) is back in training and keeper Craig Gordon (fractured arm) could return to action within a fortnight, but George McCartney (ankle) and the Republic of Ireland's David Meyler (knee) remain on the injured list.
