European dream over for brave Sporting
Sporting Fingal 2 CS Maritimo 3 (Maritimo win 6-4 on aggregate)
Sporting Fingal's European debut ended in a blaze of goals.
But, in truth, Maritimo's Brazilian-laden side were never in danger of easing through to a third round meeting with Welsh side Bangor City.
Any chance of Sporting retrieving their 3-2 first leg deficit were quickly shot down as they once again lost 3-2 to the slick Portuguese side.
Alonso shot a dominant Maritimo in front from a 20th minute penalty after a reckless challenge by Shaun Maher on Danilo.
Maritimo doubled their lead through Marquinho on 67 minutes before a late flurry of goals.
Substitute Eamon Zayed scored twice for Sporting, on 82 and 89 minutes, from crosses by Conan Byrne and Shuan Williams.
But the comeback was short lives as Kanu hit the visitors third late on to secure victory.
