Writing on the wall for injured Ferdinand

Rio Ferdinand's World Cup is almost certainly over.

Although the Football Association have yet to confirm the extent of the injury Ferdinand suffered in training this lunchtime, the 31-year-old left a local hospital on crutches and it is believed will be ruled out of the tournament, just one day after arriving in South Africa.
