Rovers stretch unbeaten run with Twigg strike
Shamrock Rovers 1 Bray Wanderers 0
Gary Twigg capped his first start of the season with a first home goal as Rovers made it three wins on the spin to stretch their unbeaten run to six games and move up to third in the table.
Rovers dominated bottom side Bray from the off but wasted several clear-cut chances before Twigg struck for the only goal of the night on 36 minutes.
Danny Murphy fed midfielder Chris Turner out of defence and he surged forward to pick out Thomas Stewart. Twigg was on hand to fire home the low cross.
Bray’s best chance feel to Dean Zambra early in the second half, but the winger failed to punish Murphy’s mistake as keeper Alan Mannus was off his line in a flash to save with his feet.
Bray had midfielder Mark O’Brien sent off on 67 minutes, a straight card for a foul on Stephen Rice.
Rovers finished strongly and Stewart had a goal disallowed for offside before Bray keeper Brian Kane saved well from Billy Dennehy and Rice.
