New signing Matthew Kilgallon and midfielder Lee Cattermole are in contention as Sunderland aim to end their woeful run at Everton tomorrow night.

New signing Matthew Kilgallon and midfielder Lee Cattermole are in contention as Sunderland aim to end their woeful run at Everton tomorrow night.

Kilgallon was ineligible for last Saturday’s FA Cup fourth-round loss at Portsmouth after his move from Sheffield United, while Cattermole is poised to return following knee and hamstring trouble as the Black Cats seek a first away win in the Barclays Premier League since the opening day of the season at Bolton.

Phil Bardsley (hamstring) and Michael Turner (knee) are both out for up to three weeks after picking up injuries in the 2-1 defeat at Fratton Park as Sunderland’s run was extended to one win in 10 games in all competitions.

Nyron Nosworthy and John Mensah could return, while George McCartney has recovered from the illness which ruled him out of the trip to the south coast but Anton Ferdinand (ankle) remains out.

Team (from): Gordon, Nosworthy, Mensah, Kilgallon, Cattermole, Richardson, Cana, Da Silva, Mayler, Henderson, Bent, Zenden Jones, Fulop, Campbell, Healy, Malbranque, Murphy, Reid, R Noble.
