Cattermole misses out
Midfielder Lee Cattermole has once again missed out on a first home start since October as Sunderland entertain Everton this afternoon.
Cattermole sits out with a hamstring problem as captain Lorik Cana returns from suspension in one of four changes to the side which lost 4-3 at Manchester City last weekend.
With Michael Turner starting a four-match ban and Nyron Nosworthy and Fraizer Campbell dropping to the bench, manager Steve Bruce has drafted in Phil Bardsley, Paulo da Silva and Kenwyne Jones.
Injury-plagued Everton are unchanged, although there was at least a boost for boss David Moyes as Phil Neville recovered from injury to be named among the substitutes.
Sunderland: Fulop, McCartney, Mensah, Da Silva, Bardsley, Malbranque, Cana, Henderson, Reid, Bent, Jones.
Subs: Carson, Nosworthy, Zenden, Campbell, Murphy, Meyler, Healy.
Everton: Howard, Baines, Heitinga, Neill, Hibbert, Pienaar, Osman, Fellaini, Bilyaletdinov, Saha, Cahill.
Subs: Nash, Vaughan, Neville, Yakubu, Coleman, Duffy, Baxter.
Referee: Martin Atkinson.
