Ipswich star insists players back Keane

Ipswich boss Roy Keane enjoys the full backing of his players despite the club’s winless start to the season, according to winger Carlos Edwards.

The Tractor Boys are rooted to the foot of the Coca-Cola Championship after a horror start that has yielded just seven points from their opening 13 matches.

Edwards, who also played under Keane at Sunderland, admits Ipswich’s run of form is unlike any he had endured during his 10-year career, but believes they can secure a breakthrough win tomorrow when they travel to second-from-bottom Plymouth.

“We are all fully behind Roy Keane. I have never been on a run like this before. It’s the first time,” said Edwards, who will celebrate his 31st birthday tomorrow.

“The manager asked us this very question in the dressing room after the game. He asked us if anyone of us had suffered such a run in our careers and no-one said ’yes’ they had.

“But what more can we do? We keep throwing the kitchen sink at teams. We don’t look like a bottom team and we are all sticking together, like we have done all season.”
